I’ve tossed around the idea of hands-on workshops for a few years now, and decided it was time to give it a go! What a great response I had!
On this beautiful Sunday in August, brides and their guests took a scenic drive up through the Berkshires to my office in Lenox, Massachusetts.
There was excitement among them to have an actual hands-on learning opportunity, rather than just trying to picture the process after reading blogs and magazines. They could also get their questions answered during the workshop.
The topic of this workshop was Guest List & Wedding Invitation Etiquette. We talked about how to properly word an invitation, how to properly stuff an invitation and its components and how to address them. They each were given a folder chock full of 37 pages of information and wording samples for every possible social situation for the invitation and how to address. Inside that folder, they were given an actual invitation set to practice assembling, courtesy of Hitchcock Press in Holyoke, Massachusetts.
They enjoyed a brunch bar and mimosas throughout the workshop, and left with a sweet little gift bag. Those gift bags included free tickets to the Western New England Bridal Show happening in November and an issue of WeddingStar magazine courtesy of CJC Events
. Other items in their bags were mini emergency kits, chocolate, lollipops, sewing kits and more.
At the end of the workshop, I asked for feedback and the responses were through the roof positive. Some of them had driven over an hour to get to the workshop, and said it was worth the drive. I polled for other topics of interest and will combine them with my own topic choices and plan to continue the workshops, doing one every other month. Some of them will take place in my office and some will take place at various venues and locations relevant to the workshop topic.
Look for an update to our site within the next couple of weeks for the scheduled upcoming workshops. Each workshop topic is in and of itself, meaning if you missed one workshop, it won’t affect you jumping in on the next one.
